Vivid Purple Stripe Hair Colour in Amsterdam
The transformation
This colour came to us faded into something nobody had chosen. The base was a pale blonde, the old pinks had gone soft at the root, a blue-green tint was washing through the ends and dark regrowth showed at the parting. The good news was the base itself. The hair was still light and bright, and that is what vivid colour needs.
We went for a graphic look instead of a soft blend: chunky vertical stripes in three shades. We used a hot magenta, a deep, dark cool purple and a lighter purple. Each shade sits in a wide panel that runs from root to tip, so the colour shows as blocks of contrast every time the hair moves.
We started with a root retouch. We lifted the regrowth so the new shades would sit evenly from the scalp down, with no dark band at the top. The rest of the work was a double process creative colour: we lightened the hair first, then placed the vivid shades over it. We protected the hair during the lightening with the K18 bond-building treatment (@k18hair).
The finished look has magenta through the back, deep cool purple and blue-violet through the middle, and lighter purple around the face, all worn as a sleek bob. It stands out against a grey Amsterdam sky.
Vivid shades like these lose a little colour with every wash. To keep them bright for longer, rinse in cool water, wash less often and use heat protection before styling. When your roots start to show, book a retouch before the regrowth turns into a hard line.

On our menu, this kind of work is the Double Process Creative at EUR 250. When it's time to refresh the roots, the Double Process Retouch (about 3cm) is EUR 200. Shampoo and blow-dry are not included in colour services. Hair from the shoulders down has a length surcharge: EUR +10 for shoulder to armpit, EUR +20 for armpit to mid-back and EUR +30 for mid-back and longer. If you'd like to talk the idea through first, a consultation is EUR 30, and we waive it when you book a service.
